Taylor Belote is the Instrumental Music Director for the middle school and high school in the Deer Park School District in Deer Park, WA. His classes include the High School Concert Band (also Pep Band and Marching Band), the High School Drumline and Percussion Ensemble, the 7th-8th Grade Middle School Band, and the 6th Grade Band.
Taylor discovered his own love for music in 7th grade, and has since gone on to perform in a wide variety of musical settings – everything from marching drumlines, symphony orchestras and classical ensembles, and jazz bands to steel drum groups, church worship teams, and his own rock bands. He was a 2007 Spokane Scholar in the Fine Arts, he received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award as a senior at Rogers High School, and for 4 years, he was a member in 6 ensembles at Whitworth University (including the award-winning jazz band, wind symphony, and orchestra), during which he was able to share the stage with legendary jazz artists, such as Lee Konitz and Arturo Sandoval.
Taylor received his B.A. in Instrumental Music Performance in 2010 (also receiving the prestigious Anna J. Carrel Senior Music Award) and his M.A. in Teaching in 2011, both from Whitworth University. He continues to enjoy every playing and teaching opportunity he can find. He teaches privately to many students in the Spokane area at the downtown studio, Family School of Music, and he performs regularly with Spokane’s First Presbyterian Church Praise Band and several other ensembles. Taylor currently resides in Spokane, Washington with his fiance, Amanda, and their yorkie-poodle puppy, Ella.
